What would happen if the Earth stopped spinning

Here is an extra ordinary answer to a question "What would happen if the Earth stopped spinning ? "
But There are a couple of errors here.
1. If the earth stopped rotating it would become tidally locked with our star which would create perpetual day on one side of earth and perpetual night on the other.
2. This equatorial bulge is very slight, and would cause water levels to rise slightly. Gravity pulls towards the center of the earth so the oceans would not migrate to the poles. I'm not sure what principal the maker of this video were basing that on.
3. And most importantly any force capable of stopping earth's rotation I.e. a collision with a celestial body, would be enough to sterilize the planet and blow away the atmosphere rendering it a glowing ball of molten rock and metals. The whole scenario here is not possible and purely fantasy.
